Fiery sweet serrano heat, edgy, bright,
charged with arid days of
berry picking, blanket picnicking lovers,
full-bellied, sunstreaked, heady
with tree whispers flirting sacred tresses,
sangria savored on lips and tongue.
Berries paint soft palates
in bursts of juice; shooting stars
streak silver the canvas of night.
Fireflies sparkle like constellations
falling from the skies
dancing a vibrational orgy,
the visual of frog chorus:
harmonious hysteria,
frenetic chirps, mad cacklings,
bull bass, banjo twangs
reverberating
in alternating
waves of climax
and calm…
Single
moments
gather like
elderflowers,
like friends
collecting
in the shade
to linger,
embrace
summer’s
longest
days
