basil hummus

I've been away from the computer for a bit and in the garden instead. The first red tomato a couple days ago. Shooting stars. Sleeping outside under the night sky, awakening to dew and flowers, roosters crowing--and I learned that the duck quacks good morning just like the rooster crows and the birds chirp. Makes sense, but I never lived with a duck before to know until now.
The basil is bushing out and I've been making basil hummus nearly every day, tasting summer with every swipe of Lebanese bread bursting lemon and garlic and pungent sweet green on my soft palate. Dreaming fully and knowing I live best with sweat on my brow and neck, I crawl on my knees pulling weeds as a form of prayer.
